Planning Your Honeymoon

Jun 27, 2008 - 4:46:39 PM

Having a honeymoon after a wedding is a tradition that dates back many years, since it is a great time to bond with your new spouse in a very romantic setting. There are a lot of details that go into the preparation, such as the location, the date, and even the hotel you will be staying at. Planning a honeymoon can be a very stressful occasion, but it will be well worth it in the end when you are relaxing with your new spouse in a location you have always dreamed of visiting.

You will want to pick out the location for your honeymoon first, since you will need to plan the rest of the details around the specific location. It is best to research popular honeymoon spots to find out what sparks the interest of you and your soon to be spouse, since you can plan anything from a beautiful beach location to a romantic getaway in Paris. You can even plan to visit the country of your ancestors, or a favorite location within the United States that the two of you have always dreamed of visiting. The possibilities really are endless when it comes to picking a location for your honeymoon, since there are beautiful vacation spots all over the world.

Once you pick the location, you will want to start researching hotels in the area. The hotel is the one area where you should really splurge, since you will most likely be spending a great deal of time at the hotel location. Look for hotels that have a honeymoon suite, since they normally offer great perks such as room service and activities for newly married couples. The room is also sometimes decorated with rose petals, champagne, gourmet chocolates, and other fun items to complete a romantic vacation, so it is well worth it to make the hotel the most expensive part of the trip.

You can plan out some various activities that you and your new spouse can enjoy, such as a couples day at a spa and romantic meals together. Depending on the location of your honeymoon, you can even plan outdoors activities, sight seeing tours, or anything and everything that you know you and your soon to be spouse would enjoy. Make sure to plan time for relaxing though, since a honeymoon is a great opportunity for you and your spouse to learn as much about each other as possible.

Making the travel arrangements is the final step, since most honeymoon locations are not within driving distance. Plane travel can be pretty expensive especially during peak seasons, so you will want to try and plan your travel arrangements for the least expensive times. If you do plan on traveling by plane, try planning your arrival and departure midweek to save a little money. The plane will also be less busy than on a weekend, so you can enjoy the plane ride instead of being cramped up next to two complete strangers.

Planning a honeymoon can be a stressful situation, but it can be made simple as long as you do your research. Picking out a great destination, planning all types of fun activities, finding the perfect hotel, and making cheap travel arrangements can make the process much easier, so you can focus on your wedding day and the fun and exciting honeymoon that will follow.
